People Tree | Jerrika pinafore dress
The Jerrika pinafore dress is made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton made by the Turkisch producer Sarp Jeans.
Sarp Jeans are renowned for their sustainable and ethical credentials. They aim to reduce the environmental impact on the manufacturing of jeans, which in an industry infamous for its negative environmental impact is something to be proud of.
Organic cotton is grown without the use of insecticides, pesticides and nitrogen fertilisers. Not only does this reduce the cost by 38% for farmers, but it also protects them from being exposed to toxic chemicals and eliminates the greenhouse gas emissions created though the production of these chemical fertilizers. Through organic farming, soils remain healthy and sequester more carbon helping to mitigate climate change. Water consumption is reduced up to 91%, and there is a 40% reduction of C02 emissions per tonne of cotton fibre.
